Linked 52: Smile

Sunday, December 9, 2012

Nothing about this photo doesn't make you want to smile...

My first link post officially 2 days late after a near almost perfect year. My excuse---I forgot to schedule this post to publish. Only a few weeks left of this 52 week photo challenge!

Anyone still with me for a couple more posts?

Linked 52: Beyond Reach

Friday, November 30, 2012

These are beyond his reach... it will be a few more years until he can reach them on his own.

I am not sure who's still linking with me...but with only a few weeks left to complete Project 52 (One themed blog entry a week for one year). I have the need to finish what I started, even if it's by myself!

Linked 52: Gathering

Friday, November 23, 2012

In less than a week we will have a 3 year old. It seems so surreal. We celebrated his birthday last weekend. Harrison was pretty excited to have his very own (Mickey Mouse) pinata, he even helped me fill it up with goodies.

The poor Mickey pinata didn't last through many strikes, but it definitely gathered a crowd of little people in to collect the goods.

A little less than in focus, but there is my Mickey Man to the left.

Linked 52: Music (the Peanut Butter Song)

Friday, November 16, 2012

This guy has never been a big fan of music or dancing until most recently. He came home from Pre-School a couple weeks ago and said, "Look at me, look at me I am dancing." He's been requesting what he calls the "Peanut Butter Song." I didn't know of any Peanut Butter Songs. At Pre-school conferences last week I asked his teacher...she too was clueless as to a Peanut Butter Song. I asked Harrison to sing it to me and he broke out in song singing, "Peanut Butter song, Peanut Butter Song, Peanut Butter Song."

Hello, Google and You Tube...There is a Peanut Butter Song. Want to hear if for yourself? Click Here

He was all about the actions this evening...

Linked 52: Wind

Thursday, November 8, 2012

So I am pulling out a favorite photo taken on my last spring break of college. Actually I should clarify, this was my first spring break vacation in my 5 years of college. I usually spent the week pulling extra shifts at one of my 3 jobs (yeah I still don't know how I did it all).

Well, being it was last semester of college, I was bound and determined I was not going to spend it working. Instead Doug and I took a flight to Las Angeles California. We did some shopping on Rodeo Drive, walked the Holly Wood Walk of Fame, went to the Price as Right show (when Bob Parker was still hosting), spent some time driving in the mountains and walking the beautiful sandy beaches.

It was cooler than expected during our trip (maybe the 60s), but for Minnesotans in March, these temps were a dream.

The photo below was taking by us as we strolled along the beach one afternoon. It's one of my favorite photos of us. It's framed on my desk at work and I glance at it often. We are snuggled up with beach towels, have our shades on, wind blowing our hair in every direction, so imperfect, but perfect all at the same time.

I think what I love most about this photo, is that I see us as a couple, so young, so in love. Not that has changed, but with two busy work lives, 2 children, 4 pets, a mortgage, car payments and don't get me started on student loan payments you can easily see how a part of your life when it was just the two of you gets pushed to the side.

Sometimes the wind blows in the direction that evokes a little memory...

Much love to my hubby! xoxo

Where does the wind take you?

Linked 52: Texture

Friday, November 2, 2012

Alright...I'll fess up. I did raid Harrison's Halloween loot last night. I mean you do have to "test" the candy...right?

As I devoured a piece or two (or three of four)...I snapped these.

Did you ever realize how many textures are in candy alone? From a crunchy Butterfinger to a smooth and creamy Reeses....YUM, I interuppt this entry for another piece.

Linked 52: Memories

Thursday, October 25, 2012

I can't believe it's been just over two years since I took up photography as a part-time profession rather than just a hobby. The amount of images(memories) I have on this lap top and 2 external hard drives reaches near 210,000. But when it comes down to quantity vs. quality, less is more.

Only word one word for this capture, "Love."

Linked 52: On the Shelf

Thursday, October 18, 2012

It's been a busy week to say the least. If you haven't checked out the two posts below, you should :).

I apologize for my lack of creativity for this post and to my fellow Linked 52 photographers for not commenting on your posts nearly enough, you guys deserve it! But I am glad I committed myself to Linking a theme each week. In fact this was a reason enough to haul out the camera tonight. Thank you for all that continue to follow me.

On the shelf...

This white haired. blue eyed, incredible little boy was born 11 weeks premature, but certainly you can't tell. This boy can eat. The most common phrase he says, (besides being a superhero right now) is, "I hungry." On his pre-school daily report I opened up this evening read, "he ate two burgers for lunch, he was very hungry." That's our meat loving burger boy.

He finds unique ways of trying to make it to the snack shelf. One afternoon I walked into the kitchen and found three of his stools lined up and he was plotting a way to get to the shelf. When I am in the kitchen he begs me to sit on the counter and "just see" what's on the shelf...This evening was no exception.

Linked 52: Neighbor

Friday, October 12, 2012

For a nearly three year old, having a neighbor like this is a little boy's dream...

He rides his bike past the fire station almost everyday for a chance that the doors might be open to station. You can only imagine his excitement when I told him Wednesday morning that he was going to get sit in a fire truck that evening....in fact that is all he talked about that afternoon on our way back home from pre-school.

He "helped" put out the simulated fire and tried on some king-sized boots.

My friend Kristi who is also expecting (in January) and her adorable 20 month old son Micah came along on our venture to the open house. I had hoped to get some photos of the boys together, but letting a 1 & 2 year old loose in a fire station isn't a recipe for successful photo session. However these two blondie's caught the eye of a photographer at the local paper and were debuted online in all their cuteness!

Here is me (mom) capturing the capture.

HERE is the newspaper photographer's photo.

I am sure we will be visiting our neighbor soon again!

Who is your neighbor?

Linked 52: Colors

Friday, October 5, 2012

The leaf colors are just starting to peek in SE Minnesota, a photographers Christmas I call it. Now...if the wind would just die down a bit and leave a few leaves on the trees for the 18 + photo sessions I have left this month.

I took Harrison up behind the hills of one of my favorite places to photograph the colors of fall on Wednesday evening. It was a beautiful 70 degrees and warm sunshine. He didn't really want much to do with the session, he was more for "looking for his tools" (sticks, rocks etc.) which would have been ideal for last week's post. Ugh...I feel like I keep just missing these!

I do have to send HUGE kudos to him though...he totally rocked his birthday invite session. All I needed was one good photo for the invite itself and ended up with a good 10. Anyone who photographs a 2 year old, knows that number is amazing! He sat up perfectly....said, "Cheese Momma." I was in heaven.

Color---Give me a E for EFFORT.

Why don't you brighten you day and check out all of these other colorful posts?

Linked 52: Tools

Friday, September 28, 2012

Nothing a little boy loves more than his "tools."

This is how we spend (almost all) our evenings with "tools" in hand he fixes slides, stairs and his "rocket ship" (swing).

Linked 52: Autumn

Friday, September 21, 2012

We took a trip to a apple orchard over Labor Day Weekend. It's a tradition Doug and I started before Harrison was born. I can't remember ever going to an orchard as a kid and so much fun they are! It's hard to believe next year this time we will have 10 month with us!

It could have been a little less sunny for better photos, but you can't fight with mother nature!

Favorite shots of day! :)
