Whitney Dog on the mend...

It's been an eventful weekend at the Kelley household...

Whitney's back home after spending the day at the vet getting rehydrated and getting anti-nausea and pain medication.

She got sick really fast beginning early yesterday morning and couldn't stop vomiting as the day went on. At first we assumed she would recover on her own, but turns out this morning the vomiting still persisted and she was only getting sicker. I hopped in the shower quick and we drove to the vet.

I have to admit, though she seems more like herself tonight, I was completely terrified and still am (until we get over this hump). Whitney was diagnosed with a very serious condition called Peritonitis a year and half ago and due to it's location her future with us is unknown (she's already went through two surgeries), we live everyday not knowing how much time we have with her.

Most likely the cause of this recent vomiting is something she ate that she shouldn't have eaten, not the Peritonitis. We were out hiking last week in the woods and think she must have stumbled upon something or ate an unsettling stick at the park yesterday. This sets me up for a scare from woods all summer, which we spend a lot of our there. If her vomiting persists starting tomorrow when we are able to start feeding her a special diet she will have x-rays and lab on Monday morning to check to see if  it's something more serious like pancreatitis or an obstruction.

I also asked for a Lyme's test today. The number of dogs that have it in MN & WI this year is outrageous and despite getting the Lyme vaccine Whitney got Lyme's disease a couple of years ago and she's had recent limping that accompanied that diagnosis last,  and she too has present the same over the past couple of weeks. The test came back negative for Lyme's disease but she has another tick-borne disease called Anaplasmosis that she will be treated for after the GI issues have been resolved.

We all took a restful 3.5 hour family nap today and now she is snoring next to me on the couch---oh how I love this Whitney Dog.

 Yes, you are on the right blog! As un-technology advanced as I am... I am now an owner of an I-Phone, let the learning process begin. I have advanced to learning to use the calender. That's progress folks!

This photo is not as clear as it was on the ultra sound screen, but this little image is proof that we are in fact pregnant! It was amazing seeing this tiny person with a strong beating heart. My favorite phase of the day came from the ultra sound tech. She said, "There is definitely a heart beat." The heart rate was 132.

This is the moment when you cry happy tears!

We even got to see some 3D images of Baby Kelley #2. VERY COOL. This was something our hospital didn't have when we were pregnant with Harrison. I can't wait for the big ultra sound in about 10 weeks, though we might get a few more sneak peeks of baby along the way to monitor us closer during this pregnancy. We met with my OBGYN last week for our first appointment and have our initial pregnancy appointment (the long appointment with medical history etc) on Friday, the 13th...great day, right?  I go back to my doctor on April 17th for our ten week appointment and the second trimester I will start seeing a high-risk specialist in conjunction with my doctor throughout the pregnancy.

Last weekend we visited my friend Jenna who is also a photographer and did some pregnancy announcement photos. Her work is amazing, make sure you follow her name to her FB fan page. Despite the fact we had a VERY uncooperative 2 year old during the session, she still did an AMAZING job! I also have to give a shout for my friend Amanda, who has to be one of the craftiest people I know. Amanda created the string of due date numbers in the photos below, thanks to an idea I found on Pinterest.

28 Months

This evening was an amazing time for Harrison and I. We packed up my new car :) and went location shopping. I am looking for some new areas to do client photo sessions. I rediscovered a local college campus and think I found a few pretty good new spots to try.

The Easter Bunny made a special delivery at our house prior to out debarkation and delivered a bubble gun. The bunny must have known Harrison would need something to keep him occupied on our search.

Next he raced Whitney Dog

I only wish it wouldn't have been Doug's night to work this week... I would have loved some photos from this.... Do you remember the game red light green light? You run on green and stop on red. Through these open fields and trails we played for more than hour, we definitely got our cardio in for the day. Harrison did a few dives into the grass and I even took one too. It was a blast!

I can't forget the proud moment Doug would have loved to be present for---Harrison's first pee in the woods. When you have to go you have to go.

It was a memorable night.

I guess you could say it's Harrison's golden month. He was born on the 28th and he is 28 months on the 28th of this month. So, what can I tell you that is new in 28 bullets?

• 1. He weighed 27 lbs at his doctors appointment today wearing his clothes and shoes.
• 2. Favorite food is string cheese
• 3. The world stops for motorcycles & airplanes
• 4. POTTY TRAINED! Uses the BIG POTTY!
• 5. When asked what color things are everything is purple & green
• 6. Still uses a plug (pacifier) in the car and at night
• 7. Favorite toy vacuum cleaner
• 8. Favorite bribe: Suckers/Mickey Mouse
• 9. Favorite book: Llama, Llama
• 10. Giggles during TV programs
• 11. Asks, "Where Whee, Whee," (Whitney Dog) at least half a dozen times a day.
• 12. Like to take pictures/dislikes having his picture taken
• 13. Doesn't like to be sticky and waits for permission to get dirty
• 14. Loves puddle jumping!
• 15. Pretends to eat food/candy from pictures in books
• 16. Likes to be tucked in at night
• 17. Has two minute time-outs
• 18. Dislikes coloring & drawing/prefers painting & play dough
• 19. Favorite pretend character to be: Monster
• 20. Sweet treat of choice: Oreo Cookies
• 21. Sneaks in our room a couple times a week and puts himself back to sleep on the floor next to our bed.
• 22. Sleeps through the night 2-3 times per week (yes, feel bad for us)
• 23. Likes to go for car rides to look for BIG TRUCKS
• 24. Shares a love for shoes with mommy (has at least a dozen pairs)
• 25. Never leaves the house without a "key, key" (blanket)
• 26. Fluent in please & thank you (best two signs we ever taught him)
• 27. Mickey Mouse EVERYTHING
• 28. BIG SLIDES

We meet next week with birth to three to discuss his latest assessment mainly discussing language (speech). We are hoping to get some help in helping Harrison improve his vocabulary and start verbalizing appropriate for his age. Some days are more frustrating than others, he is so smart, we just wish his verbalization would reflect this.

Harrison and daddy also went to see Harrison's primary doctor today with his post pneumonia coughing. He has been started on a different inhaler. The doctor said it's a matter of finding which inhaler is the right inhaler for Harrison to help break up the dead bacteria in his lungs. Harrison's lungs weren't clear at the appointment, but doctor said it's reassuring it's not a recurrence of another bout of pneumonia. The antibiotic that Harrison was on killed the pneumonia, but it may take several more weeks for his lungs to clear up. For now we will use his inhalers combined, 6 times daily.

Another month gone by way to fast...before we know it we will be planning his third birthday party.

"Mow, Mow"

This past weekend we visited my friend Jenna (who is also a photographer) and attempted to take some updated family photos. If I had to describe this attempt in one word, "disaster" would best describe it. At one point during the session Harrison tried to bite and pinch me and run away. The more bribes for cooperation we brought out did no justice, he was not going to have his pictures taken end of the story. I am sure the session will include a couple of keepers but I am just warning you now, the three us threw everything we had to get there!

It's been a little rocky for behavior like described above. I think some terrible twos are emerging in the last couple of weeks. After nearly completely potty trained Harrison decided not to use the potty at all last Friday, it was not pretty. Thank goodness that was short lived, but the temper-tantrums about anything and everything have been in FULL swing. He is attempting to bite and pinch for attention, something he stopped doing months ago but must be revisiting again.

After our trying family photo session we headed to IKEA and then to Uncle Matt's house.

Harrison had no problem flashing smiles while on a "mow, mow."

He liked the horn the best, the bottom right corner was his discovery of it, I love Doug's expression.

On our way home---he slept the entire 2.5 hours back, first ever!



He needed this rest! After his last bout of pnemonia he has yet to shake the constant coughing. We plan on taking him to his primary doctor this week to follow up.

I'll keep you posted and try to sneak in a 28 month update this week.

Linked 52: Spring

It's been a busy week at work,  photography, and trying to get things organized in life...hence my linked 52 isn't all that creative this week, but it's got more of Harrison and what's not to love about that?

Spring is definitely in the air. For 2012 the average temperature is 48 degrees in MINNESOTA. I have to say this winter (and spring so far) have been the best weather I can ever remember...

It's great we can get an early start on our yard this season. In October our energy company put in new gas lines that put 2 large holes and 3 small holes on our boulevards. Then in December we had a water main break in the middle of yard requiring extensive digging of our front yard... Without saying anymore, we have a full plate of yard/house tasks.

Bring on spring planting!

Breakfast

I love moments like this...

During breakfast this morning I finished my toast before Harrison and he said, "More toast." I said, "No, mamma's full," and continued to read the newspaper. I looked back up and found this on my plate---fake toast from his kitchen set. Adorable!
