Where would I be in life if it weren't for these two boys?

These are the candid moments that I love.

iphone photo dump

It's LONG, LONG overdue that I post a few iphone captures to the blog. It's nice to have the photo option on the phone since it practically travels everywhere with me.

Here is a few months worth of catch-up!

32 Months (Yes ALREADY)

Friday, July 27, 2012

This little boy is growing up WAY, WAY, WAY too fast for his Mommy's liking!

Tomorrow is scheduled to be a fun day. Every year Harrison has a Neonatal Kiddie Reunion (Picnic). This is a once a year opportunity to see the staff that cared for Harrison during his two month stay at the hospital and we also get to see families whom we met during our experience there. Last year's (picnic) theme was Disney, this year's theme favorite story book character. Can you guess what story book character Harrison chose to be?

Well hang in there, there is a pretty cute photo that gives away his decision at the end of this post.

Are you still with me or did you scroll right to the bottom?

Well I wouldn't blame you, after all I did tempt you.

Linked 52: Time

Time. Something I think we all wish we had more of amd I don't hear anyone arguing about that with me.

I had more than my fair share of ideas for this week's linked post themed, "time." In fact my head was exploding with ideas... I even took a few photos in mind of this week's theme, however when I sat down to edit them a baby photo of Harrison popped up from the achieve. This only made me think about time and how quickly time passes. I have been out of high school for almost 10 years, been married to the man of my dreams for 7 years, started my career 5 years ago, and found out I was pregnant 3 years ago. I am now a mother to a 32 month old amazing little boy born 11 weeks premature and am 6 months pregnant with second little boy who we nearly lost at 11 weeks, but he too has proven to be a fighter like his brother.

Time has shown us struggle, time has shown us good, but time has never slowed down.

I picked up the camera when Harrison was 4 months old and have never looked back...Though I can't change how fast time goes, I have snap shot memories to remind me of just how precious time is.

I am the more about every day shots...I think that sets me a side from other photographers.

6 Months PREGNANT! (2 days early)

An early post? Yes, this even is surprising me! Looking at the week a head...it's so busy I didn't want this post to go on the back burner, so here it is on the front burner.

I have been less than creative lately with myself (our family) for photo sessions since photography season is in FULL swing for the summer and the sooner than we want it to be fall. Feel free to check out my latest sessions on my FACEBOOK FAN PAGE (and even become a fan if you want too!) I have huge aspirations for putting together a new website/blog when I am on maternity leave. And if you have wondering where my creativity has gone---the sneak peeks posted FACEBOOK will tell you where my mind has been!

I have always told myself I would stop doing photography if I didn't have enough time to edit my own non-client sessions. As busy as I am right now, family comes first, this blog comes first...always has and always will. Harrison is the reason I picked up the camera and have spent the last 2.5 years learning how to use it. I feel like I have been given a gift to be able capture memories for other families.

As much as I love the camera and operating behind it, sometimes I have hand over it over, so I can be part of the memories.

I ALWAYS want to remember being pregnant. I feel like we were"cheated" with our pregnancy with Harrison. The closer I get to 29 week marker...the more I think about what happened and could have happened. To put it right out there on the table... I scared to death everyday Bee will be born before that 29 week point. I don't see 29 weeks as a success, but a milestone bigger than the ocean. At 24 weeks Bee would have a 17% chance of survival if he was born...at 25 weeks it's 39%. Every single day counts.

Today I decided to put on my faithful purple little dress on for 6 month bump photos...I was astounded it fit, not perfect, but I could breathe and move in it = good enough. I even got fancy pulling out the curling iron for the first time in a month (summer makes me lazy).

We drove to one of my favorite areas for photos and as soon as the car hit park rain started to fall... I said, "Seriously? And I was having a good hair day." After sitting in the car with my eyes glued to the radar on weather.com, Doug and I realized the rain wasn't going any where...Disappointment was cut short with Doug's motivation for me to just get out and do the photos. So here I am finding relief from rain under the tree. My good hair day was short lived.

This isn't the typical Bee Report photos, I'll grab some of those shots later this week...My needing to be a little more fun & creative need to be unleashed.

 I love these images...

These photos would fool you, but it's raining during all of these...

I hardly look pregnant if at all in these next ones....so if need a reminder scroll up, the bump is there! I am a pinterest-aholic, I admit it. Loved this idea so much I HAD to use it. What I love even better is he let me write on his belly with marker and WILLING laid down for these shots. Accomplishment.

Loving the silliness in this one :)

size of baby: 20 weeks: banana, 21 weeks: pomegranate, 22weeks: papaya, 23 weeks: grapefruit, 24 weeks: cantaloupe. At 24 weeks Bee is 10.5-to-11.8-inch fetus weighs about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces and every week he is getting closer and closer to being ready to survive (and thrive!) in the outside world.

cravings: M&MS every night before bed... Cheez-Its are pretty good too!

what I love: Being pregnant...even if it means wearing support hose at night for painful and the VERY unsightly veins in my legs.

what I am looking forward to most: Painting his room! I picked up the paint weeks ago, now it just needs to make it's way to on to the wall! I am also excited to help create some of the art work for the room.

worries: preterm labor, work hours--financial stand point for maternity leave and return to work based on the most recent cuts. Do I look for new employment on maternity leave? The upside to work worrying? My boss is resigning in September. :) Hopefully this will put an end to all of this worrying. I celebrated the news with fudge striped cookies.

what's different this time around: No Charlie horses yet, but not like I traded those cramps for anything better...A lot, a lot, a lot of back pain (not the worry pressure pain). Actually feeling less pressure (a relief). The heating pad has become my best friend. I also maybe the only person you know who is driving around with the heated seats on in the car with the air conditioning on high. I have to find relief when I can. I also developed the inability to sit on hard surfaces without it feeling like I just rode a bike non-stop for days and days. I read online that the cause of this pain is the bones in the pelvis and hips shifting, preparing for delivery. If there was ever a doubt that you were wondering if "things" go back to the way they were before you had a baby...Apparently they do, because these bones have done a TON of shifting preparing for Bee. I am also carrying a lot, a lot lower.

symptoms: back ache, unsightly varicose veins, bathroom breaks (I lost track of how many times a day I go---has to be more than dozen times a day), mild break out most recently, itchy belly.

maternity clothes: Yes, but I prefer athletic clothes (and they can be made to look stylish). I even have a one full panel pair of work shorts...and I was one to say I would never be caught wearing something like this. I have a new motto, "if it fits, wear it."

sleep: been sleeping overall better, not as many crazy hormonal dreams. Sleep could be better if we had a 2.5 year old that actually slept through the night more than 2 days a week! An on going/current struggle of ours.

belly: huge change...growing like a weed. No stretch marks yet (didn't have any with Harrison, I think these veins are payoff for the stretch marks) and lots of lotion.

movement: All the time...triple as active as my pregnancy was with Harrison. Usually more movement on the right side. I felt my first kick today over my belly button, but now tonight he is hanging out on my bladder. Apparently whatever I am feeding him keeps him going like the Energizer Bunny.

boy/girl: Boy! Harrison still thinks it's a girl!

milestone: More than half way through the second trimester!

comments from the general public: When are you due? Do you know what you are having? I officially look pregnant enough people are starting to treat me nicer...Those people holding the doors longer for me and giving me priority in line. Too bad this will be short lived!

best moment of the month: I tie between those belly shots of Harrison and I above and kick from Miles hard enough to startle me into a little jump.

A special thank you goes out to Doug for putting up with my photo pickiness. I am a hard critic. Thank you for these memories.

What?

Prepared 2 weeks in a row?

Seems our Christmas in July activity last week is this week's linked theme. I was struggling to come up with this week's post until I went through a mound of photos from the last couple of weeks ago. I had forgotten I had even taken these!

I love spending quality alone time on Fridays with my guy. I try to jam as much as I can into one day. Last Friday we celebrated "Christmas in July," with tree, candy canes and ginger bread men pancakes with Christmas sprinkles. It got a little messy and a lot sticky. After breakfast we turned on Christmas music and did a Santa craft and painted with Christmas stamps. Nap time we read, "Llama, Llama Holiday," and "Jingle Cats."

Lastly...What Christmas would be complete without watching the Grinch?

Here is a glimpse into the morning on that day...

23 Week (Baby Bee) Doctor Appt.

Monday, July 16, 2012

I am 23 weeks tomorrow. This pregnancy is starting to fly.

Today I met with the doctor for a regular appt. Doug usually comes with, but he had a meeting with the big boss at the district office, so I went alone.

My blood pressure checked in at 100/60 (which is perfect) and Bee's heart rate was 150 (also perfect). We talked some about the unsightly veins that are rapidly developing on my right leg. I had the same veins appear with Harrison's pregnancy in the left leg. However these veins were much less noticeable with his pregnancy and went away about a week after Harrison was born. I am not going to be as lucky this time. From the knee down on my right leg the veins have become painful and swollen (think of a giant looking bruise). At this point I don't have to worry about a blood clot and based on the location of the veins if a blood clot were to develop the clot wouldn't be likely to travel to my lungs or brain which is essential. There is nothing I can do to prevent the veins from continuing to form and continuing to swell other than were support stockings. Between the doctor and I, we don't feel that's really and option in the 100 degree weather we have been having. I have genetics to blame (thanks mom). Most likely I will have injections done to veins after delivery that don't return/disappear to their normal size.

My cervix was also checked at today's appt. I asked the doctor if it was normal to feel the baby move so low, it seems like he hasn't moved up and I still have pressure, but not unbearable. The doctor said, "it's normal to not feel the baby move as high as in the previous pregnancy and hears this a lot from second time mothers." "The reason for the lower movement is because the uterus was stretched the first pregnancy." I asked, "Is this why my pants don't fit?" He laughed and said, "yes, welcome to motherhood." I bought my first pair of maternity pants/bottoms EVER a couple of weeks ago. I like what my friend Jenna said after I made the purchase, "No one wins an award for not wearing maternity pants." Stretchy has never felt so good!

The exam went OK. Both sutures are still in place and the cervix is completely closed. The uterus is exactly were it should be (just above my belly button). So measurement wise, I am on with the due date.  The only concerning news, but not overly concerning is that Miles is in fact laying low. The doctors words, "Baby is REALLY low, I can feel baby, this is why you feel the pressure you have been feeling. This als explains my lower braxton hicks as the frequent bathroom breaks I am have. Sometimes bathroom breaks every half hour... Apparently Miles enjoys hanging out on the bladder.  This is also the reason my pants won't button. :)  So is this laying low stuff concerning? Not particularly unless I start bleeding or have regular contractions. I haven't been placed on any restrictions. However I am between 5-6 weeks from when Harrison was born, so more frequent appointments are needed. Instead of monthly I go back in 3 weeks and I will also take my glucose test (test for gestational diabetes) and have another physical exam. After this exam, appointments will be every two weeks until delivery. I will also have another ultra sound next month to check the cervix, fluid and Bee's overall growth and position.

So far so good. We keep praying everyday. Every week Bee has inside is one less week he would have in the NICU. I am scared, I am not going to lie, but I trust we are doing the best we can do and we trust in God.

The IKEA Room

Sunday, July 15, 2012

We took a trip to IKEA a few weeks after we found out we were pregnant. Harrison walked (ran) around like crazy there, trying out every single bed, chair and table. Lucky enough we found a new bedroom set for Harrison in our trip there. I would have bought the bedroom set that day if we didn't have a 2 year old in tow.

A couple of weeks ago we decided it was the time for purchase, so back to IKEA Doug and I went. Harrison hung out with his Grandma and his cousins for the day back at home. The car was loaded, and loaded, and loaded. I was amazed everything fit in the car, I am glad to say I own a Toyota Highlander that can be converted to fit about anything. In our trip back up to IKEA we ended up finding bedding to update the current theme in the room which was "frogs." Now in addition to frogs is a little more nature with a bear, fox, hedge hog to name a few creatures. The current theme is based out of the book, "Hedge Hog Finds A Home."

The bed was put together just a few days after we brought it home. Harrison immediately was consumed with excitement. As soon as the bed had the final screw put in he was crawling all over it. I pointed to his "old bed" and said, "Well then who's bed is that if this new one's yours?" He said, "baby's." If you haven't check out the post below, you should. He now insists baby sleep with him every night.

Here is a quick glimpse into the room. I still want to get the details photographed and few more things  I need to bring in, but for now it's complete enough for me to share a peek.

Every 2 year old should have a fun room.

The "dirt" rug is from TARGET
The "grass" pillow is from TARGET
The bedding, bed, cabinets, end table and table & chairs are from IKEA
The lamp is from HOBBY LOBBY (a mere $13.84 steal of a deal)
The frog hamper is from TOYS R US
The frog piggy bank is from TARGET
The stuffed frog is from OLD NAVY/ the bear/dog are from IKEA
The wall hangings/wooden frogs are from CRANBERRY FEST CRAFT SALE

The room feels HUGE now, I can hardly believe the space. He now has more room for books, clothes and toys...Perhaps an excuse to do some shopping?

Really? Wake me up!!!! I can't believe this is all REALLY happening. In just a couple of weeks we hope to have Miles (Baby Bee's) room painted. Doug found a deal on the area rug for Miles room today, so I am settling for rectangle, not round and brown instead of orange...but none the less, I am excited. The only thing left to order for the room is a photo frame and letters for his name to go above the crib and possibly a valance window treatment.

On top of finishing the room, the kitchen pantry got a make-over as well as downstairs closet. We spent some time on the yard (trying to bring life back in to the fried grass and flowers) and I hosed off the porch and scrubbed off the dirt. Funny saying these are accomplishments... The to do list didn't get shorter, in fact it's longer.

Big Brother

Friday, July 13, 2012

There are no words to describe this photo...

I couldn't decide between b&w or color, so you see both. As of lately "his baby" has been getting a lot of attention. Currently he using Miles Sleep & Rock as his baby's crib...he feeds the baby and becomes distressed when he accidentally drops the baby. This afternoon he insisted baby sleep with him. During our nap time story he got up in the middle to get a "key, key" (blanket) for his baby to "cover baby up." I asked him, "Are you going to kiss baby night, night?" He kissed the baby. My prediction? He is going to be an amazing big brother.

Duluth Day THREE CONTINUED: Train Ride

I had a goal to make it through all of our own personal Duluth vacation photos before I started back with client sessions, otherwise they usually don't get edited. I still have fourth of July to finish and some other random photos to get through... I know I won't finish Duluth in time either. The only solution is to give me more than 24 hour day to get everything done.

Also I need to post progress of nursery planning for Miles. I found my ceiling hangings last night at Hobby Lobby and picked up canvas and paint to start the art work for the walls.

The TRAIN RIDE:

We really wanted to do a different train route than we did, but with the recent flooding in Duluth, the tracks were washed out, so we settled for taking the downtown train---not much scenery and speed wise, we crawled. I think we expected more, but still had fun. Harrison was busy moving between the cars and being an active 2 year old.

Waiting for the train to arrive...

Loving the details of the old train car...We estimated the car at well over 100 year old.

Hi there handsome husband and daddy!

Linked 52: Family

Ironically I didn't look until yesterday to see what this week's theme was for linking. Usually I am unprepared and have been winging it since summer started, but this week... I am ready, prepared, unexpectantly!

I am still working on our mini vacation photos from our trip to Duluth last week. I honestly didn't think we would get any family shots because people are either A: too intimidated by the big camera, or B: attempt the shot, but it's not usually usable quality. I think if I would just "get over it," and turn the camera to auto setting for people we might have more luck. I have owned the camera for almost a year now and I haven't shot a single shot on auto.

With that all said...We got managed a few family keepers from our beach day. We have Grandma McKee to thank for these.

The last photo blurry, but the capture is too fun not to share!

New Hair Cut!

Thursday, July 12, 2012

Hair cut #3...

Every once in a while....he lets me photograph him

I guess he was just as excited about his new hair cut as I was...

This was the first hair cut we used the buzzer up the entire back. He was terrified at the beginning, sat on my lap again, but at least we got to both wore capes this time.

The REWARD? Pink Ice Cream at Harrison's request.
