Harrison Emmett Kelley
On June 9, 2009 the test came back positive! After falling in love in 2002 and marry in 2005, Doug and I were going to be first time parents. On September 18, 2009 we learned we would welcome a baby boy due to arrive on or about February 10th, 2010.
On November 28, 2009 this growing baby boy was too eager to meet his mommy and daddy and was born at 6:47 pm, 11 weeks too soon. To read Harrison's entire birth story, click this link: http://www.thekelleysbaby.blogspot.com/2009/12/harrisons-birth-story.html
Harrison spent 52 days in the NICU and 10 weeks home with me before I returned back to work. I am blessed to only have to work a 4 day week and get to spend each and every Friday making a mess, getting sticky and cleaning up, only to do it all over again.
Since his birth we have been active in the Minnesota March of Dimes. In 2010 we were the ambassador family for Winona County. In the fall of 2011 we became for the first ambassador family for Jail/Bail event for March for Babies in our county. The event raised more than $20,000 in just four hours. We will participate in March of Dimes---March for Babies walk for the third year taking place April 2012. Team Baby Harrison will walk so that that "One day, all babies will be born healthy." We live by these words, "Learn from yesterday, Live for today, Hope for tomorrow."
Two years later, Harrison is a healthy toddler. It hasn't been easiest road to get here, but it's so rewarding to be where we are right now. On January 19, 2012 Harrison will officially be a 2 year NICU veteran. He is proof that miracles do happen.
These days Harrison spends his days making us more thankful for everyday with his giggles, smiles and love. Our days are filled with marshmallow cereal, Mickey Mouse, choo-choos, Elmo, fruit snacks, blankets and lots and lots of kisses.
