This evening was HealingScapes Photo Competition Reception. I blogged about being a top 29 winner of 400+ photos submitted HERE.
My photo was selected as the top 10 pick of photos voted by the Winona Health staff as well as the top 10 photo pick from the Community.
During the awards ceremony I found out that I was not only the top 10 pick of photos voted by Winona Health staff, but I actually won first choice for best photo by the staff.
I have to admit, I've never won anything like this before, so having my photo professionally framed and mounted to be put on display in private patient rooms and up for auction at an event was HUGE for me.
Now on the those days where I can't take a good photograph to save my life, I can look back at this photo for a little reassurance.
It was an exciting night meeting other photographers and having people come up to me and tell me how they love this photo. This experience was wonderful and hope I can experience something like this again someday.
I only took a few shots during the event. I really wanted to photograph the fancy desserts there.... oh and the fruit display, but couldn't find away not look out of place while doing it.
The framed shots were hard to get with the glare from the glass.
Now you are probably wondering about the overall winner of the competition... The award didn't go to me, but it went to this shot of our landmark bridge in Winona. The photo was taken by a cell phone, yes a cell phone you read correctly. What an amazing shot of the bridge and that's one amazing cell phone.
