Tree Lights.

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

We are not fancy people, nor do we want to be. It's our Charlie Brown tree. We do really have a nicer, larger tree, but we bought this one a couple of years ago since it was easier to keep baby and puppy proof. But...now to tell the truth I like it better. The whole world seems so obsessed with fancying up Christmas and going crazy with gift giving. This year we, well more "me"  decorated very plain and simplistic. I only put out items that meant something to us. If you see from our Elf on the Shelf posts on Facebook you'll see the classic Santa, Mrs. Claus, the 3 Elves and the home interior mice set from the 1970s (all given to me by my mom). We have strands of berries that hang on our tree that were on our family tree when I was maybe 4-5 years old.  Our tree is also very personal. Ninety nine percent  of the ornaments hung on the tree are personalized. Every year as kids we made or were given ornaments and we do the same for our kids and pets. Last year Whitney's ornament read, "First Christmas In Heaven." This year Harrison got Police car (because he wants to be a cop) and Miles got a dump truck because he LOVES big trucks! You sure won't find a sparkly ball hanging from our tree, but what you will see are memories.

Last night I decided to have the boys throw on their Christmas pajamas and try to grab a few shot by our tree with all the lights off. I thinking epic fail...  but then this happened.

Some days the capabilities of my camera still amaze me. Room only lite from tree light (no flash). For you camera junkies ISO 8,000, 1/200 f/1.2 with my 50.

Christmas Baking 2014

I'm positive that if you googled the word "disaster" right now a picture of our kitchen would appear. Both sides of the sink are full of dirty baking pans and bowls. My feet crunch as I walk across the kitchen floor---I have one word for that... SPRINKLES. The counter has chunks of dried on cookie dough and more SPRINKLES and how the entertainment center in the living room is covered with flour... I DON'T KNOW. So what better time to just sit down for a minute and post few of my favorites from cookie baking this morning? No time like the present, right?

Milk & Cookies

A couple of weeks before Thanksgiving I dressed these two in Christmas jammies and put them out in a middle of field to grab a few model shots for Christmas Minis photos (which ended up being a HUGE success BTW). :)

Oh don't worry... There were bribes.
