Back Seat Driver

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Harrison moved up in car seat luxury yesterday as we purchased his second/final car seats. Eventually with this car seat he will be able to face forward and look at something other than the back of the seat. We have spent weeks trying to decide if he was ready for move. He can fully sit by himself unassisted and can now get in the crawling stance and can bounce back and forth before he tumbles to his tummy. He sits really well in a shopping cart and high chairs at restaurants (we have an awesome cart cover that mommy and Harrison love, daddy feels differently about it, but two against one, right?) Some factors we had to consider is when he is sleepy we can no longer take him shopping/out to eat unless we have his stroller because he can't exactly sleep while sitting up in a cart or a high chair. Also, in church and other public places---he is going to be much more free to roam additionally making more work for us.

On the other hand? No more lugging around 18 lbs in an already 10 lbs car seat!

We sat outside and watched Daddy install the new car seats. Harrison was more interested in playing with the huge boxes! And see the new toy he has? It's like the steering wheel Maggie has from the show the Simpson's. What's even better? It's practically brand new for $10 from a children's second hand store. He is now officially a back seat driver.

Speaking of that second hand store...we found a ton of fun toys for Harrison. I mean a TON! We ended up only buying the driver toy and a activity table, but we will be back.

Beep! Beep! Beep! Outta my way!!!!
Notice this adorable onesie from Baby Gap (one of Mommy's favorite stores)? It says, "It's All About Me!"

Playing in the box with Big Sister Whitney Dog!
Playing in the box by myself!

Here comes Daddy!

Dinner time. Goodbye!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!!

Can you believe it that in less than 3 months Harrison will have been part of our lives for a year?

Maybe his entrance into this world may have not been planned as early as it was, but he has been spending the last 9 months showing us just how he truly is a miracle!

November 20, 2010 we will be celebrating Harrison's FIRST Birthday! Why November 20th? It's the rush before the holiday season and we want to make sure his birthday is distinguished from a holiday.

Harrison officially turns one on November 28, 2010.

Can you guess the theme for the birthday party?

Does this clue help?

Or does this one help?

If you haven't guessed already....

It's THE VERY HUNGRY  CATERPILLAR!

We are in love with all of Eric Carle's books from The Hungry Caterpillar to The Very Busy Spider and Grouchy Lady Bug to just name a few.

Invites will go out in October.

Harrison hopes you can make it! He has a special project to work on in mean time! Be sure to see it at the birthday celebration!

Let the planning begin!

Puppy!

I don't have any rhyme or reason for this photo shoot, except for the fact I have this adorable child to show off!

Labor Day Fun

Today I spent Labor Day doing what I love most...besides being a wife and mother.

Peek-a-boo!
Love this expression!

Harrison looks like Uncle Ben here.
Whitney Dog takes front stage!
You are probably wondering where these fabulous photos were taken? Stockholm, WI. Just a few minutes away from Pepin, WI. If you haven't heard of Pepin, it's because it's in the middle of nowhere.

And you thought these rocks looked dangerous...look at the next picture.

Obviously I was in HEAVEN today with photos...and the one's posted above just skim the surface of what shots were captured today.

What? An empty frame?

Sunday, September 5, 2010

Both of Harrison's grandparents have a frame... Grandpa & Me and Grandma & Me. Well I was over at Grandpa and Grandma Nelson this weekend and there Grandpa's frame sat filled with some generic photo that comes with the frame.

We had to do something about that...

Since we had the camera out...Why not keep shooting, right?

Looking so innocent here...
Here he is trying to eat grass AGAIN!

Playing in Grandma's fountain...

Snapped this shot, right before the flower found it's way to Harrison's mouth...
One of the many "Harrison" expressions...

Patty Cake!!!!!

Saturday, September 4, 2010

We have been working hard on Patty Cake for the past couple of weeks. Its seems Harrison is getting a hang of the popular nursery rhyme.

Goodbye Minnesota State Fair...See you next year!

Friday, September 3, 2010

With temperatures in the 50s, wind & rain, we didn't make it to the Minnesota State Fair today. This was our plan as we went to the Vikings game Thursday night (see the post below). We spent the night at a hotel and the day shopping at Albertville Outlet Mall instead of going to the fair. Yes, we are from Minnesota and we should be able to handle this weather...in October/November, NOT September.

Today we even considered going back tomorrow or Sunday for the fair festivities, but a four hour combined drive it still a but too much for Harrison to muster up for the day. We will definitely make it next year!

Tomorrow we grabbing our sweat shirts and spending the afternoon on the river, relaxing, enjoying (dare I say?) the last bit of our long care-free summer days.

We wish everyone a safe and wonderful Labor Day weekend!

I eat my greens...

The post title does not lie. Harrison gobbles up everything it seems these days.

GREEN. Harrison used to gag and throw up anything green that we used to feed him. This is not the same story anymore. If fact, he absolutely loves his greens now. There isn't much he won't let pass through his lips anymore, unless it's one of canned meat dinners (which frankly make me want to gag and throw up too).

Last Sunday I cooked breakfast and Harrison tried french toast for the first time. Then real pieces of peaches & pears. Thursday he tried a potato ole from Taco Johns. This morning he had his first real banana and ate nearly half of it and for lunch a french fry from Burger King. (Sounds like we eat healthy around here doesn't it)?

Enough with the babbling, on with the pictures!

THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET A LITTLE MESSY!

This one can't do anything, but make you smile!

In case you were wondering, that nude little butt on his bib says BEACH BUM. We bought this is Barbados for him while we were on a cruise last September. Sadly, Harrison has to be two before he goes on his first cruise.

TOUCH DOWN VIKINGS!

If you have never been to a Minnesota Vikings game, you are going to be jealous that 9 month old Harrison just watched the Vikings pound the Denver Broncos last night at the Mall of America Metrodome.

Thanks to our friends Kyle and Kristi, (they have season tickets they gave us for this game) we made the trip up to Minneapolis for a pre-season Vikings Game. This was Harrison's and Daddy's first NFL game.

Harrison did SUPER during the game. He was quite the night owl---up until nearly mid-night.

And who would I be without capturing a few photos of the B-I-G night?

Intently watching the game...

Sporting a popcorn tub proudly!
Half time NAP!

And last, but not least do you remember these tiny booties?

These booties Harrison wore when he was tiny two week old baby...

Now nearly 9 months later...

Yes, somehow, some way they fit him despite putting on his freshman 15lbs--size newborn.
